Alaska, The 49th State!

Hey all!

I know I really don't keep up with my blog (shame one me, I really should), but I thought it might be easier to write a blog about our trip to Alaska, than retelling the stories a million times. It was a long vacation that bore some long stories!

We decided on Alaska because AJ refused to use his passport for this vacation. He says I always make him go out of the country and then he has to take a pain in the butt course about traveling outside of the country and anti-terrorism. I had to come up with something super cool without the use of the passport. Alaskan road trip was decided upon! Thanks to my BFF, Kelly Renner, for the Fromer's Alaska tour book that she sent me for my birthday, we were able to determine what was cool and what was not so cool. Trip Advisor got a little overwhelming.

Below is the route we took. Our itinerary is as follows:
Day 1: Flew into Anchorage and spent the night.
Day 2: Drove to Seward, spent the night.
Day 3: Went on a glacier cruise, stayed in Seward another night.
Day 4: Drove to Valdez via the Alaska Marine Highway System, spent the night.
Day 5: Drove to Black Rapids, spent the night.
Day 6: Drove to Denali National Park via the Denali Highway (137 mile gravel road), spent the night.
Day 7: Explored Denali National Park, stayed another night.
Day 8: Drove to Fairbanks, spent the night.
Day 9: Traveled to Coldfoot and Wiseman via an Arctic Circle Flight Tour, flew home on red eye flight
.
The section of Alaska that we visited is located within the rectangle.

The red is our route we followed and the blue stars indicate where we stopped along the way!

I hope you enjoy reading about our travels!
