OSU vs. UK Weekend | 3.26.11

Being from Columbus, Ohio, AJ is one of the only non-Ohio State in the city! We got totally lucky this weekend being already planned and UK playing Ohio State in the tournament. We have all been waiting for this match up for years and all of our friends from high school were coming down for a visit!

On Friday night we were all geared up for the big game. I had had numerous conversations with AJ about how he was going to behave when Kentucky lost the game. AJ has a tendency to get very emotional during Kentucky sporting events and I wanted him to be prepared that he was not allowed to act like that in front of our company.

Well the game came down to the last minute and Kentucky won. The Ohio State fans were in complete shock. We were supposed to win that game! I was so proud of AJ though, he was a perfect gentleman and didn't rub the win in anyones face, in all actuality, I think he was in shock. Too bad they went on to lose to UCONN in the final four.

Here is a photo of us ladies drinking our wine during the game :)

On Saturday we had some homemade breakfast that we made on our griddle (thanks Bekah!) including french toast! I love french toast. Then we got ready and went on a little tour to Heaven Hill and Makers Mark. I am sure you have all heard me mention Makers Mark about a million times on my FB but it is seriously awesome. The tour is different every time depending on who your tour guide is. They have really done a wonderful job down there. After the tours, some people went on with AJ to do a tour of Fort Knox and some of the ladies came with me and we hit up the Zappos.com outlet store! Super cool. I always find something down there. Christy came home with the bargain though, knee high brown leather boots for $18! I am serious, you cannot beat these prices and they always offer a 10% military discount :)

After everyone arrived home from their tours, it was time to go get some dinner and drinks downtown! We were hoping to eat @ Doc Crow's, our friend Christy is from New Orleans and it is supposed to be some New Orleans cuisine. I have never been to New Orleans so I am unsure how true that is. Upon our arrival we were told they were on an 80 minute wait! INSANE, and they do not take reservations. We were so disappointed. Thankfully we were in range to walk to come other restaurants since we had already valet'd the cars. We ended up @ Bluegrass Brewing Company, aka BBC. It was super yummy and they have good beer too! Gotta love those craft beers:)

After dinner we headed down to Fourth Street Live and hit up The Pub. Yes it is the same The Pub we have at Polaris, just in a much cooler location. Who really like to hang out in a bar at the mall, bad location in Columbus. The Pub serves a new cider called Crispin and it is served in a tall glass with ice. So refreshing, it is my new favorite drink.

AJ of course got to sit in the king chair, he was super excited and commanded attention.

The photo below pretty much sums up how I feel about Charlie Sheen and his WINNING antics. AJ and Tom were so obsessed with Charlie Sheen this weekend, I could have screamed. All I hard all weekend was WINNING. I am pretty sure in this photo, AJ just got done yelling WINNING! LAME and ANNOYING in my book!

This was a great weekend for us and our friends from home, we got to show off our condo and show them around Louisville. Love you all and come again anytime :)
