For those of you who are unaware, I have 2 pugs. Paris France and Zsa Zsa Gabor. Paris France is 6 and Zsa Zsa Gabor is 3. Paris France has had a lot of problems in life and as my mom would say, it takes a special person to love and appreciate her. She was never able to breathe very well until about a year and a half ago, she had nose surgery, turns out she was basically breathing her whole life through holes as big as a coffee stir straw. Paris has always had problems beyond her breathing though. She is scared of the world. When I got Paris I bought these cheap ceramic dog bowls that say princess on them. I have not been able to change her bowls for 6 years because she is scared of new bowls, I tried and she didn't eat for a week, I felt so bad, I put her old bowls back out. She is also scared of car rides and going to new places. She has only been to the bark park one time because she was so nervous, her tongue turned blue and she had to go to Medvet. She has an awful time going to the vet and she is only comfortable at my house or my moms. She is why I have been dreading this trip to Louisville.
All day Thursday my Mom, Mamoo and I packed up everything that was at my dads house to be brought down to Louisville. We decided that I would drive the Hummer down full of stuff to be moved and my mom would drive my Jetta down on Monday full of wedding presents.
On Friday morning, the Hummer was packed so full, I couldn't even see out the back window or my blind spots! (I own a lot more than I thought I did, I think this move has turned into a multi-trip adventure...). The time had come to put the pugs in the seat belt harnesses and strap them into the front seat...
It was quite a struggle to get them hooked onto the same seat belt and as you can see in the photo, Paris France was already starting to pant. I was so nervous. When we made it to the Meijer gas station, about a mile from my house, things were still going ok. There was a minor melt down when I got out to pump the gas, but everything was going well.
So off we went to 71 South all the way to Louisville. The pugs did awesome! Paris France was fine the whole car ride! I can't believe we made it 4 hours!! They eventually finagled a way to lay down next to each other and snuggle the whole way here...
Upon arrival, I was once again nervous about how Paris France was going to react but I had a whole bag of tricks I brought along. I bought some pig snouts (pictured below), pig ears, cow ears, cow hooves and some new dinosaur stuffed animals and not to be forgotten, Paris France's ugly ceramic princess bowls.
Paris didn't freak out at all, it turns out she has had no issues with the move, but Zsa Zsa Gabor has. Paris is running about happy as a clam and Zsa Zsa Gabor is really depressed and not eating her food or drinking water. She has barely even been chewing her pig snout. AJ and I got out their new dinosaur's this afternoon and she really loves them. This has cheered her up a little, but she is still depressed. All she wants to do is sleep on me or next to me at all hours. I never dreamed Zsa Zsa Gabor would have the issue, she is the cheerful outgoing dog. Hopefully she will start doing better soon. I will keep you updated.

I'm glad Paris France had a successful trip! And maybe she isn't freaking out because AJ is there :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope Zsa Zsa Gabor is adjusting!
