Home Decorating...BLAH.

So I am an interior designer, shouldn't it be easy to decorate my home? Well an interior designer is not exactly a decorator. I have no problem spacing out my furniture, picking colors, selecting furniture etc... I am having a lot of trouble putting the finishing touches on things, you know, little knick-knacks and crap. What should go on the walls and where? What a giant pain in the ass. I feel like when people come to visit, they are going to think "Oh, I can't wait to see what Courtney has done to their condo." Well let me tell ya, it's not coming together right now. I need to seriously put on my thinking cap and get to work on this place.

I can't imagine doing this on your own and not being an interior designer. It is so much harder to design a space you live in everyday. I mean so much thought has to go into everything. Do I really want to live with a ceramic owl staring at me everyday, what about our wood elephant and turtle from Jamaica, where are they going to live?

This being said, I never want to be a residential designer. YUCK. In commercial design you just pick something out, it looks nice, and hopefully your client approves. When it comes to residences, people live with this stuff day in and day out, so they have to LOVE IT.

So far I am not really in love with anything. I need to start looking for some residential design inspiration. I am thinking I want to do a photo wall. I think it would look cool and we got this cool picture that spells out BROWELL for a wedding gift. I was thinking that could be the center of the collage. Now to just choose about 10 photos from our 2,000 wedding photos...

We have purchased all the furniture needed. I would have to say the office area is my favorite place in the house. We just need to make one more trip to IKEA and it will be complete. I am so excited to hang out in it everyday. It has these great windows, so it is bright and cheery. I wish we could paint. It would look great painted a nice dove gray.

As soon as I feel like our living area is worth sharing, I will upload some photos of it, until then, I better get working!
